Razor wire is barbed wire of modified construction, made of punched barbed tape and strong steel core. Egoza razor wire is used instead of traditional barbed tape in cases when object’s security demands become higher. Traditional barbed wire could be easily cut by everyday tool, besides barbed wire’s blades construction due to up-to-date criterion do not secure its sufficient effectiveness as a perimeter security means. Wire-reinforced barbed tape is a punched barbed tape made of galvanized steel, reinforced by strong core of high-carbon steel wire. Reinforcement of barbed tape can be made by two methods – tape winding around a core or by its base cogging. Razor wire manufactured by barbed tape winding around wire is called reinforced twisted barbed tape, crimped barbed wire is called – wire-reinforced barbed tape.

Both twisted and crimped reinforced tape has high protective characteristics, surpassing traditional barbed wire by effectiveness, safety and durability. But still crimped wire-reinforced barbed tape wins slightly by all the parameters and due to its construction. In crimped wire-reinforced barbed tape of this type the tape and the base are almost a single unit, in twisted tape of the type the tape is separated from the base and it could be cut and separated from the core diminishing in such a way its protective characteristics. More aggressive external appearance which brings certain psychological impact to potential intruders is an undisputable advantage of reinforced twisted barbed tape.
