Steel EN 10346 Instead of GOST 14918-80

Galvanized steel EN 10346

The barbed wire of the Caiman Production Group will be produced using galvanized steel coils that comply with the EN 10346 standard instead of GOST 14918-80, as the leading Ukrainian rolled metal producers have switched to European standards. Galvanized steel coils EN 10346 will be used in the production of all types of razor tape from which modern barbed wire is made, as well as all types of clips used for the manufacture and installation of barbed wire and barbed-cutting barriers.

The durability of the razor wire is mainly influenced by the thickness of the zinc coating of the razor tape and the thickness of the razor tape itself. Producing 6 types of barbed wire, we use galvanized steel with a thickness of 0.45, 0.5 and 0.55 mm. Since the area of the razor tape in contact with the environment is much lower than the area of the galvanized wire, which is mostly compressed by the barbed tape, higher requirements are imposed on the thickness of the zinc coating of the steel tape.

In the production of our barbed wire, we use galvanized steel roll EN 10346 with a zinc coating in the range of 140-290 g/m2, which is quite enough for the barbed wire made of such galvanized steel to last for many decades without corrosion.
